The best loose-leaf tea I have ever had. I make it every single morning. Hands down worth it.

Brewing guide

The evening wind-down.

Caffeine-free, colour-changing, calm. The one that puts on a show.

  1. 01

    Heat & measure

Boil, wait 90 seconds. Around 90°C is the sweet spot. Add 5-7 dried flowers per cup, half a teaspoon is plenty.

TipToo hot and the colour goes cloudy instead of clear indigo.

  2. 02

    Pour & steep

Pour, lid on, and watch the indigo bloom. 5 minutes for a soft brew, 10 for a deep one.

TipMore flowers means deeper indigo, not stronger flavour.

  3. 03

    Squeeze a lemon

Optional, but you came for the trick. Lemon turns the indigo into violet, then magenta. Anthocyanin chemistry, not food colouring.

TipLime, hibiscus, and yuzu work too. Anything acidic.

Pairs with

How to drink it.

Soft and slightly woody on its own. Theatrical with a squeeze of lemon.

  • Lemon

A squeeze turns indigo into violet, then magenta. The party trick.

  • Honey

Brings out the floral sweetness. Stir slow.

  • Iced

Brew strong, pour over cubes. The colour stays vivid even cold.

  • Bedtime

Caffeine-free, so this is the one for evenings.

Indigo in. Violet out.
The party trick

Indigo in. Violet out.

Butterfly pea flowers contain anthocyanins, the same pigment family that makes blueberries blue. Add a squeeze of lemon and the brew shifts from indigo to violet, then magenta. Pure pigment chemistry, no food colouring. Naturally caffeine-free, drinkable at any hour, the one that puts on a show.

Gold finish is the real deal

Photos don't quite catch it. The gold has depth, almost antique-looking. Cup matches perfectly. Gifted to my mum and she sent a photo of it on her morning tray.

Silver was the right call

Chose silver because my kitchen is white and stainless. Looks intentional, not flashy. Cup arrived in matching silver. Daily use, weeks in, no complaints.

The free cup is the trick

Most teapots arrive lonely without a matching cup. This one shows up complete and the cup is the same finish. Tiny detail, big difference on the counter.

Sent it as a wedding gift

Picked the gold for a wedding registry. Couple texted me a photo of it set up on their kitchen counter the day they got back. That's the goal of a good gift.

Pour is dead clean

Spout doesn't dribble even when I'm rushing in the morning. The press shuts the leaves down properly. Felt premium from the first pour.

Wish it came with a gift box

The pot itself is gorgeous, no complaints there. Sending it as a present and would have loved a proper gift box rather than the standard sleeve. Four stars on packaging, five on the pot.

Questions?

We've got answers

Is butterfly pea actually tea?

Technically no, it's a flower tisane. Caffeine-free, no actual tea leaves. It steeps and tastes like tea, which is why it gets called one.

Why does it change colour?

The flowers contain anthocyanins, which shift hue with pH. Add anything acidic (lemon, lime, yuzu, hibiscus) and the indigo turns violet, then magenta. Pure pigment chemistry.

How many cups per pouch?

Around 50 brews from a 100 g pouch. Five to seven flowers per cup is plenty.

Is it safe in pregnancy?

There's no caffeine, but butterfly pea isn't deeply studied in pregnancy. We'd suggest checking with your doctor before adding it to a daily ritual.

What if I don't like it?

60-day money-back guarantee on unopened pouches. Opened pouches aren't eligible for return for hygiene reasons. If there's an issue with the tea itself, get in touch. See our returns policy for full details.
