Most supermarket tea bags are sealed with plastic, including many that look like paper. We just didn't see a reason to ship plastic into a hot cup. Every tea here is whole-leaf, single-origin, sealed in kraft. A single plastic-sealed bag can release up to 11 billion microplastic particles in one cup (McGill, 2019).
The point isn't the tea. The point is the five minutes between boiling the kettle and pouring the cup, when nobody is asking anything of you. That's what we built the pot for.
Founder's noteIf we wouldn't keep it on our own counter, it doesn't ship. We started Tranquili Tea because we couldn't find a teapot we actually wanted on our own counter, and because we'd quietly stopped trusting what was in our tea bags. This is the pot we drink from every morning.
